How exactly did Ted Bundy behave in public?

Ted spent most of time babysitting and remained detached from his stepfather emotionally. In high school ted became introverted and felt he "hit a wall", secondary to not understanding the socialization aspect of life itself. He didn't understand friendships and why people wanted friends. During high school Ted became a thief and shop lifter. He also became interested in images of sex and the interrelationship of violence.

There is a question of the beginning of Ted's killings at the time he was in the beginning stages of high school. "Many Bundy experts, including Rule and former King County detective Robert D. Keppel, believe Bundy may have started killing as far back as his early teens: an 8-year-old girl from Tacoma, Ann Marie Burr, vanished from her home three miles from Bundy's house one summer night in 1961, when Bundy was 14 years-old.

Bundy had a psychology degree, he was a law student, a boy scout and a college graduate. He never practiced psychology and he quit law school. Bundy said that murder is about possession, it is seeing that last flicker of life or that last breath. As a little child, Bundy grew up thinking that his grandparents were his parents and when he found out that they were not he felt betrayed by his mother, Eleanor Louise Cowell. He thought he was smart and that he could fool a jury which he did not. He also thought he could escape the chair buying time saying he could show more victims of him but those victims he could never prove.

Bundy granted an interview to psychologist James Dobson just before he was executed on January 24, 1989. In that interview, he described the agony of his addiction to pornography. Bundy goes back to his roots, explaining the development of his compulsive behavior. He reveals his addiction to hard-core pornography and how it fueled the terrible crimes he committed.

In August 1975 police attempted to stop Bundy for a driving violation. He aroused suspicion when he tried to get away by turning his car lights off and speeding through stop signs. When he was finally stopped his VW was searched and police found handcuffs, an ice pick, crowbar, pantyhose with eye holes cut out along with other questionable items. They also saw that the front seat on the passenger side of his car was missing. Police arrested Ted Bundy on suspicion of burglary.

There is no doubt that Ted Bundy displayed abnormal behavior as a child. From the books and journals written about Ted it is learned that he was an introverted child. There was an incident with Eleanor's younger sister Julia told from Ted's childhood that single handedly supports the great influence his grandfather's behavior had over him. After lying down for a nap Julia awoke surrounded by kitchen knives and a smiling three year old Ted next to her. These behaviors that Ted displayed as a young child could lead one to believe he suffered from childhood depression.
