What a great question !

The earth's orbit is elliptical, the ellipse has two foci (focuses), and the center

of the sun is at one of them. All true.

But the earth's orbit is so close to being circular that the distance between the

two foci isn't that great, and the other focus is inside the sun !

I'm not sure about Pluto, but I think that's true for all the other planets.

Does the shape of earths orbit affect the season?

The changes in the distance from the sun (due to elliptical orbit) make marginal differences in the amount of energy recieved by the earth,. > The major contributor to seasonal differences is essentially due to the tilt from perpindicular of the earths rotational axis and the fact that the axis will remain parallel throughout the earths yearly orbit around the sun, so in the northern hemisphere the winter equinox is when the top of the axis is at maximum tilt away from the sun, resulting in diffused sunlight and less daylight hours.

What is the farthes planet from the sun?

Currently, after Pluto was degraded to a dwarf planet. Neptune is the planet furthest away from the sun. about 30 AU away ( 1 Astronomical Unit equals Earths orbit around the sun). when it comes to dwarf planets however. there is a newly discovered one called Sedna. it has a very ecliptic orbit, but it is believed that at its furthest it will be over 900 AU away from the sun.

How is the moon kept in orbit?

The earth by its gravitational pull keeps the moon in its orbit. The earths gravitational pull and the Moon's inertia creates a force called the centripetal force which keeps the Moon in orbit.
