Science does not actually have a position on the existence or otherwise of God. Scientists only seek to explain the natural world by empirical means, using provable data. Nor does it seek to prove or disprove the theologies or beliefs of the world's religions.
Stephen Jay Gould proposed the concept of Nonoverlapping Magisteria (NOMA). He said that the domain or magisterium for science is the empirical realm - what the universe is made from and why it works the way it does. He said that the magisterium of religion includes the ultimate meaning and moral values. These magisteria are nonoverlapping - science does not comment on the ultimate meaning of life, while religion should not comment on the natural world. If accepted, this concept takes questions about theology and the meaning of life out of the scientific magisterium.
Science does contradict literal readings of The Bible and then it becomes necessary for people to decide how to deal with those differences, as can be seen in the following article: http://christianity.answers.com/theology/when-science-challenges-the-bible
I like the question that you pose. Religious literature involves man made doctrines based on his practical beliefs of what God approves of and what he does not. It is literature based around a religious culture as well. Secular literature opposes religious literature. Secular literature is based around myths and theologies. It has nothing to do with God, Christ or religion period. It is mostly based around science or science fiction. Not to forget to mention fairy tales.

From my research I have determined that the story of Heaven is no different from the story of Santa Clause in the North Pole or of Cinderella's Fairy Godmother. Religious leaders use Heaven and Hell as a system of punishment and reward for what they determine to be SIN. People use the words written by other men as proof of their religious theologies but never can they produce the realistic evidence as proof. Science is also the words written by men but the truth of their words can be tested and proven with tangible evidence.
== == No. It is based on religious belief and history, not science.
