Pretty close actually. Its about 18 miles, give or take. By car it takes about 1/2 hr without traffic or, depending on the severity of traffic, it can take anywhere from an hour or two with traffic.

According to the measurements I got from Google Maps, they are approximately 9 miles (14.5 kilometers) apart as the crow flies (meaning, if you were to draw an imaginary straight line between the two).

It's very, very close. The Bronx is directly across the bay known as the Long Island Sound from LaGuardia. The distance between them, as the crow flies (meaning, if you were to draw a straight, imaginary line on the map between the two) is about 2.5 miles.

The distance in road miles is roughly 5 to 5.5 miles. That's the distance from LaGuardia, along the Triboro Plaza (which is what the Grand Central Parkway turns into after it passes LaGuardia heading west), over the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge, over Randall's Island, and into the south Bronx, where the road diverges into the Major Deegan Expressway (heading west) and the Bruckner Expressway (heading northeast).

If you were to take the most time efficient way it would be 25.5 miles. Mainly with the help of the I-95 N.
