Wales is actually visible from Ireland, and vice versa- the Mountains of Mourne can be seen on the horizon from the Cardiganshire headland, and Mount Snowdon is visible from the Eastern Irish coast. The Irish Sea isn't actually wide enough for the two nations to be invisible to each other.
