Gethsemene is located on the mount of olives, directly east of the temple mount. Golgotha is directly north east of the temple, where those gathered there could see the curtain rip as Jesus died. Since the temple faced east, the only mount from which this could be seen in detail is just outside the Lion's gate, in appearance like a cranium, the top part of a skull, as recorded in each of the gospels.

And when they were come to a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull(κρανιον - cranion) Matt 27,33

And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary (κρανιον) , there they crucified him Lk 23,33a

Gethsamene is about 100 meters from the southeast base of Golgotha, just across the kidron brook, which today has dried up.

When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Kidron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples. Joh 18,1

To see Golgotha, the place which looks like a cranium, and the only place from which those gathered could have seen clearly the ripping of the curtain, see the links.

To see where Gethsemene is, just on the other side of the dried up kidron brook, east of the temple mount near the base of the mount of Olives, see also the link.
