WW2-era US Navy Mk. 14s and Japanese "Long Lances" clocked about 40 knots. Modern torpedoes are even faster and the Russian Skval torpedo is rumored to speed along at about 100 knots, via a cavitating air bubble.
As of 2014, a submarine can travel between 49 and 52 miles per hour. The exact speed depends on the make of the sub and whether it is traveling on the surface or under water.
That is the most efficient shape for fast, silent, speed underwater.
The underwater torpedo was invented in 1866 by the Norwegian engineer and inventor, Robert Whitehead. He was employed at the shipbuilding company Fonderia Ferdinandea in Trieste, where he developed the first successful self-propelled torpedo.
Torpedo...
It sounds like you are referring to a torpedo.
The first self-propelled torpedo wasn't invented until 1866. Prior to that, a torpedo meant an underwater mine.
The difference between a missile and a torpedo is that a torpedo travels in the waters and a missile flys through the air.
Louis Brennans First invention was the underwater torpedo.... Louis Brennan.
The meaning of claro torpedo web in English is clear torpedo web. It could be referring to a fast moving internet connect, however it is not a term used in any language.
The modern definition of a torpedo is a self-propelled underwater missile. (see related question)
A torpedo is a self-propelled underwater weapon with an explosive warhead. It can be launched by aircraft, ship, or submarine, against surface vessels or submarines. Torpedoes use monopropellants (e.g., Otto Fuel) as engine fuel, which has its own oxidizer, since there isn't any oxygen to sustain a combustion engine underwater otherwise.
This is an old and a common term. The torpedo has been used since the first submarine's were used in war time.
Depends what you read. Without further details, I've read American torpedo, fast ; Russian torpedo very, very fast. Traditional torpedoes (like those used during WWII) have a speed in water of about 25 to 30 knots (50 km/h). Experimental modern "supercavitation" torpedoes can travel at speeds up to 200 knots (360 km/h)
