Well, if you look around, it looks like a camera pause then a play, but, it makes no sense to your eyes until the brain sees what it is. But, it doesn't take too long.
When changing focus or what you are looking at it, takes a few tenths of a second before the new image registers. the brain compensates for this so you o not see a "blackout" when moving your eyes. I have a difficult time switching under half a second.
To make the image clearer on a microscope you can use the focusing lens.
