about 8mins and 19secs
It depends how fast you are going. If travelling at the speed of light you will reach the sun in just over 8 minutes.
If you traveled at the speed of light (a current impossibility), you would travel from Earth to the Sun in an average of 8 minutes. Or would you? I suspect that you would burn up well before the 8 minutes were up.
Light travels at the same speed anywhere in space. Radio, heat, and X-rays also travel at that same speed. 299,792,458 meters per second 186,282 miles per second So it takes approximately 8 minutes for the light to travel from the sun to the earth. which is mighty fast.
The Earth is orbiting the sun at an average speed of 30 kilometers per second.
No material object ever moves at the speed of light. The Earth's speed in its solar orbit ... relative to a foolish astronomer sitting on the sun ... is about 29.78 kilometers per second. That's about 0.0001 of the speed of light.
Light travels at a speed of about 186,282 miles per second. The time it takes for light to travel to Jupiter depends on the distance between Earth and Jupiter, which varies as they orbit the sun. On average, light takes about 33 minutes to travel from Earth to Jupiter when they are at their closest approach.
In terms of the speed of light, the distance between the Earth and Sun is81/3 light minutes,or about 0.00001585 light-year.
Like any traveling it depends on how fast you are going, slowly will take quite a long time, yet very very fast will get you there a lot more quickly. if you travel at the speed of light it will take about 8 minutes.
Approx. 8 minutes.
light takes approximately 8 minutes to travel from the sun to the earth. even though it is traveling extremely fast, the earth is about 93million miles away from the sun, so if you think about it 8 minutes is pretty quick
The sun is roughly 8 minutes and 19 seconds away from earth in light speed!!! Imagine how far away it is in normal earth speed!?!? The speed of light is about 186,000 miles per second.
The sun is the closest star to the earth. All the other stars are MUCH too far away to give any heat and light. The second nearest star is bout 400 light years away. (Light years mean the distance you travel at the speed of light, which is WAY too fast. Even humans haven't created anything that travels at the speed of light.)
