In warm summer months, ferrets should be housed in a climate or temperature controlled environment and are most comfortable at temperatures around 60 - 70 degrees Fahrenheit. They do not tolerate heat well due to poorly developed sweat glands and can suffer from heatstroke in temperatures of over 80 degrees Fahrenheit, and will die if left for more that a few minutes in temperatures over 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
In summer, they bathe in the cold water to cool off, and in winter their fur helps keep them warm.

Bears stay cool in the summer by seeking shade, immersing themselves in water to lower their body temperature, and reducing their activity during the hottest parts of the day. They may also pant to regulate their body temperature and conserve energy.
