There are various ferrous salts which can be given during pregnancy such as ferrous ascorbate, ferrous sulphate, ferrous fumarate, ferrous gluconate, etc.
Various salts will have different proportion of elemental iron being absorbed in the body. It depends on inter-subject variability. Choice has to be made based on requirement of iron as well as better absorption of iron with minial side effects. Some patients do not have any issues with sulphate, fumarate salts whereas some may have - so the form of Iron is tailored at the beginning of treatment by gynecologist.
Finally, answering to the above question, Ferrous ascorbate has better absorption profile with less side effects (though elemental iron supplied to the body is comparatively less).
Hope it helps :) :)
Potassium dichromate is better for titration with ferrous ammonium sulfate because it reacts with ferrous ions in a 1:6 ratio, making it easier to determine the equivalence point accurately. Potassium permanganate, on the other hand, reacts with ferrous ions in a 1:5 ratio, which can lead to less precise results and requires a more careful technique.
Aluminum is a non-ferrous metal, meaning it does not contain significant amounts of iron (Fe). Ferrous metals, on the other hand, are those that contain iron as a major component, such as steel.
'Ferrous' refers to IRON. From the Latin for iron(Fe), 'Ferrum'. All other elemental metals are Non-ferrous. However, alloys may be described as ferrous mixtures, because one of the metallic components is iron. So GOLD is a NON-ferrous elemental metal . It does NOT contain iron.
It's an alloy containing mainly carbon. It's ferrous.
Ferrous sulfate and ferrous gluconate are both forms of iron supplements used to treat iron deficiency anemia. The main difference lies in their chemical composition - ferrous sulfate has a higher elemental iron content than ferrous gluconate. This means that ferrous sulfate may cause more gastrointestinal side effects compared to ferrous gluconate.
The word "Ferrous" indicates "Iron". Ferrous metals are metals which are made up of iron. For example, Carbon steel, Wrought iron, Stainless steel and Iron itself. Non-ferrous metals on the other hand are metals which do not have any iron content in them. For example, Nickel, Lead, Brass, Copper, etc.
Ferrous comes from the latin root ferro meaning Iron. Thus a ferro metal is rich in Fe (Iron). The opposite for a non-ferrous metal. For example something rich in other element.
The adjective 'ferrous' implies that something contains or is made of iron. Therefore, cast iron is ferrous.
Any ferrous (made of iron) material, or a mixture of ferrous and other material. The less Fe, the weaker the attraction.
No, stainless steel is not a non-ferrous metal. It is an alloy made of iron, chromium, nickel, and other elements. Stainless steel contains a significant amount of iron, which is a ferrous metal.
Pewter contains no iron, hence is considered non-ferrous.
White gold is non ferrous, as it does not contain any iron.
