how many governors-generl have there been since the bahamas beacame independent
In 1949, the Governor-General of the Indian subcontinent was Lord Louis Mountbatten. He served as the last Viceroy of India and the first Governor-General of independent India before the country became a republic in 1950.
The traditional role of the Governor General was to report to the Queen what the Australian government was up to and to give instructions from the British government and the Queen to the Australian Government. Since Australia became an independent Country in its own right the position of GG has became largely symbolic.

Lord Louis Mountbatten was the first Governor General of independent India after having overseen independence and partition of British India as the last Viceroy. He was followed by Chakeravarthi Rajagopalachari who was the first Governor General of India of Indian origin and the last Governor General as the new constitution in 1950 replaced King George VI as Emperor of India with a President and the office of Governor General thus disappeared.
The Bahamas has a unitary parliamentary constitutional monarchy for their government. They became independent from the United Kingdom on July 10th, 1973.
