In a normal sized handgun, not much. It is like a .45 acp being shot out of a Government model 1911.
But in a small lightweight concealed carry type pistol, the .40 has a pretty good kick that can bother new shooters. It even bothered me enough that I chose a 9mm as my primary carry pistol even though that same make and model of gun could also have been bought in .40 caliber for the same price. I chose the 9mm after firing two identical guns in 9mm (Glock 26) and .40 s&w (Glock 27) on the same day at the range.
Supply and demand
That is not slang - 40 cal stands for 40 calories, which is a nutrition measurement.
as hard as a elephant kick
as hard as a donkey kick
Depends on the model, all have their own virtues however the best value listed is the Springfield armory XD .40 S&W.
no. nor can you fit a 40 cal shell into a 9mm chamber...............
Depends on the load.
No. 10mm is close to .40 cal, smaller than .50 cal.
Maximum range of a .40 cal pistol is about 960 meters. ACCURATE range is about 50 meters.
my opinion is the 45 ACP round has more knock down powder then the 40 caliber
9mm = .355 40 cal = .40
shooting a 22 cal short or BB cap...........
