It wasn't to bad at all, i changed mine with my 10yr. old grandson. He was my gofer so i didn't have to get out from under it.
change the sway bar rubber bushings and sway bar link bushings
It's either the control arm bushings or the rubber mounts for the shocks.
how do i replace the front end bushings on 1997 Tahoe
sqeaking/creaking noises front the front of the car will most likely come from the control arm bushings or sway bar bushings. Bushings are pieces of rubber (or polyurethane if you have a performance vehicle) that fit between the metal parts of the car (similar to a function of a rubber washer). When the rubber gets old and breaks down it tends to sqeak/creak. These noises can be louder with temperature and humidity changes in the weather. There ya go. Have fun replacing them.
If the bushings wear enough (usually are 95% of the squeaking problems) the front wheel alignment can change and can wear the tires faster if not make the vehicle pull to one side of or the other. There are rubber bushings on the bolts that attatch to the frame that keeps some of the vibration and noise down. They can dry out or harden and can either fall out or twist enough to wear metal to metal.
To change the bushings on the front upper control arms of a 1999 Dodge Ram 3500 van, first, safely lift and support the vehicle, then remove the front wheels. Disconnect the upper control arm by unbolting it from the frame and the ball joint. Use a bushing removal tool or a press to extract the old bushings, then install the new bushings in the control arm. Reassemble by bolting the control arm back in place, ensuring all components are properly torqued to specifications.
put a jack under front to relive tension and remove the two frame mounted bushings first then remove end links check all bushings and replace as needed i suggest using polyurathan bushings made by energy suspention
It really depends on the year/make model of the vehicle, type of driving and the material they are made of. I've replaced Factory front bushings on a BMW X5 after on 3yrs/30,000 miles( large soft rubber, city car.) while my mother Chrysler's bushings last 10yrs/100,000 miles (smaller bushings made of a harder rubber). Most last 8-12yrs. BMWs have the shortest life span than I've seen.
Use a ball joint press. You can get one from Harbor Freight. You'll most likely need the accessory kit as well. You can use the press in different configuration to press the old bushings out, and the new bushings in. Even the front upper bushings in the axle can be pressed out, although it may be a little tricky setting up the ball joint press to do the job.
On my truck during a routine brake job. The truck was on the rack. At 99,999 miles, all the bushings of the front end had disintegrated. This is a2001 Lariat F 150 Extended cab.

High-performance bushings for front-wheel drive (FWD) cars are typically made from materials such as polyurethane or synthetic rubber. Polyurethane offers enhanced durability, improved handling, and resistance to wear compared to standard rubber bushings. Some high-end applications may also use materials like aluminum or Delrin for even greater stiffness and performance. These materials help reduce flex and improve the vehicle's responsiveness and overall stability.
