They impacted our lives by making government and organization.
Amerigo Vespucci, an Italian navigator who served for Spain and Portugal, wrote a letter in 1502 which he called his newest discoveries the New World. Eventually mapmakers put his name on the lands he discovered known today as North and South America.
Nil to none. Vespucci lied in his books about his trips and he DID NOT discover America. He went along the coast of South America in 3 voyages. In 1890 it was proven his stories were not true, but the myth seems to have persisted that he discovered America. America was given its name by a German map maker who believed his stories. He was called Martin Waldseemuller. The above answer is partially true. Amerigo Vespucci did not truly discover America, however, he did make the world notice that Columbus had discovered a new continent. Columbus had believed he had arrived in Asia when actually discovering the New World. It was Amerigo Vespucci who made it known that this was not Asia, but rather a new landmass.
No one really knew about him. There was no mass communication like today and he pretty much was a failure and phony. He wrote a book about his travels and by the mid 1800's it had been proven he lied about what he did. He managed to get credit for things when no credit was due to him.
