If William Shakespeare were to walk around today (something people do not usually do after they die), he might be recognized by the famous Droushout engraving in the First Folio, the most famous image of Shakespeare there is and recognized by those who knew him as accurate. If, on the other hand, you think Shakespeare looked like the Cobbe portrait, you could probably walk past him on the street without recognizing him.
