Cubic zirconia became a viable competitor for diamonds for two major reasons. First and foremost, they are much cheaper than their much more pure counterparts, often as much as 90 percent so. Second, to the untrained eye cubic zirconia stones look extremely similar to real diamonds. That combination made them popular.
The differences between a diamond and a cubic zirconia necklaces are the differences in the precious rocks used. What makes the difference in the necklace are the properties of the diamond and a cubic zirconia. The diamonds is stiffer and lighter and obviously more expensive.
* A man-made substitute for diamonds. It is much closer to the physical characteristics of a real diamond than other imitations. * Cubic zirconia (also known simply as 'cz') is the finest available alternative to a diamond. This is because it has many of the properties of a diamond. It has the same shape and colour and, like a diamond, cannot be scratched by dirt or sand. Most people, even trained gemmologists, cannot tell the difference between a well-cut cubic zirconia stone and a diamond using only the naked eye. There are, however, differences between diamonds and cubic zirconia. Although in appearance cubic zirconia looks just like a good quality diamond, it is more dense than a diamond - weighing up to 60% more than a diamond of the same size. In addition, it is of note that cubic zirconia is a man made crystal. If, therefore, a piece of cubic zirconia is not perfect, it is discarded. Only the highest grade and most beautifully polished cubic zirconia stones are used throughout our silver jewellery collection. We believe that cubic zirconia is not merely a diamond substitute but a beautiful semi-precious gem in its own right. Given proper cleaning, cubic zirconia will retain its beauty and brilliance for years. Cubic zirconia jewellery can be cleaned easily using hot soapy water or warm water with a small amount of dishwashing detergent. It might help to first remove any dirt with an old toothbrush.
Only as an impurity, in traces. The correct term is cubic zirconia (ZrO2), not cubic zirconium (Zr).
Cubic zirconia (CZ) is the cubic crystalline form of zirconium dioxide (ZrO2). The synthesized material is hard, optically flawless and usually colorless, but may be made in a variety of different colors. Hardness: cubic zirconia has a rating of approximately 8 on Mohs hardness scale vs. a rating of 10 for diamond. cubic zirconia gemstones may be cut differently from diamonds. The facet edges can be rounded or "smooth". Source: Wikipedia
Minerals are, by definition, naturally occurring. Since cubic zirconia is synthesized in a lab, it is not considered a mineral.
Diamonds manufactured from carbon (C) are diamonds. Cubic zirconia is a form of zirconium dioxide (ZrO2), which is a different mineral
Cubic Zirconia is a synthesized stone that has relatively low cost and is the leading competitor for diamonds. they are usually colorless but can be made of many colors.
Diamonesk stones are used in personalized engagement and wedding ring sets. Diamonesk is much more brilliant and shiny than cubic zirconia and doesn't dull with use as cubic zirconia does.
Cubic zirconia more closely resembles diamonds than rhinestones. Cubic zirconia are hard, durable and can't be distinguished unless under a trained eye of jewelry professional.

There are many differences in weight, refraction, and clarity. Also zirconia are manmade and diamonds are naturally occuring.
Lindenwold CZ diamonds are cubic zirconia, formed from zirconium dioxide. diamonds are formed from carbon. Directly, Lindenwold CZ diamonds are real CZ diamonds.
Diamond basically comes in different color depending on the pressure and chemical reaction. Hence we can develop variety of diamonds and that too in different colors. Pure diamond is basically transperent with some impurity. And artificial Gem/Diamonds do not have any impurity, They are completely transperent. These Diamonds are called as CZ diamonds(Cubic zirconia).Cubic Zirconia Diamonds can replace the original Diamonds.
Diamond gems are lighter than a cubic zirconia gem of the same volume. The density of diamond is 5.3 g/cm3, while the density of cubic zirconia ranges from 5.6-6.0 g/cm3.
The gemstone that is often confused with diamonds is called a cubic zirconia. A person should have their ring checked by a jeweler if they suspect it's a fake.

That would depend greatly on your idea of expensive. They are not as expensive as higher quality and rarer stones like diamonds and emeralds. Typically, cubic zirconias are a less expensive choice than diamonds and are sustituted for such.
