The green revolution started with the improved genetic make up of spring wheat crop plant by Norman Borlaug. It was followed by optimum agricultural practices including application of fertilizers, tilling technology of soil, irrigation and plant protection measures. This resulted in bumper crop harvests. This model of wheat was also applied on paddy and other cereals and pulses adding to the food production.
