Political art falls (broadly) under two categories: Propoganda, art used by the state to influence the perception of the people, and Political commentary, like editorial cartoons, where the art is designed to say something about a political idea. Art economics is the business of what sells, and the infrastructure (artists, curators, buyers, transportation and other factors) in place to sell the art. While politics and economics are often closely related (if a dictator bans a peice of art in an area, its price generally increases within that area since it is now more rare) the two are not the same.
The official definition for the word politics is "the activities associated with the governance of a country or other area, esp. the debate or conflict among individuals or parties having or hoping to achieve power." Another viable definition is that politics is the art and science of government.
