They are agile climbers, using their tail for balance; but forage for food mainly on the ground. They are extremely territorial and will vigorously mark their boundaries by scent marking.
A Red Panda has an 'Extra Thumb' which is an elongated part of the wrist. It is used for ripping Pieces of Bamboo apart. Bamboo is one of the only things Red Pandas can find in the Alps so it has adapted by having that 'extra thumb'.
