Unfortunately, religion has done little to stop evil in society. Hitler was a Christian, yet was responsible for some of the greatest evil in modern times. Perhaps, though, some people with religious beliefs might think again before committin evil. On the other hand, evil has often been committed in the misguided belief that evil can be used to promote religion.
Religion and virtue are only sometimes associated, with no real evidence that a religious society has less evil than a non-religious society.
