The question is a little- double-off-center. First of all paper dolls are paper and were offered in cardboard cut-out magazine ( about the size of a magazine) format as independent products- sold in candy stores, magazine racks, etc- and NOT generally in toy stores. Barbie is a three-dimensional doll , has been since l959 and is a durable Money-Horse for the Mattel company. More technical products such as the Linoprinter come and go, but Barbie is a steady moving target in all senses. There may be Barbie paper dolls- but I am not familiar with them. There was a short-lived Barbie comic book by Marvel ( of all people) and it was cool, cutesy, and Not at all violent. One had Barbie and Ken as EPA agents parachuting into a jungle- a sort of Tarzan or Adam and Eve in reverse gear- on a mission to help wildlife- Barbie adopts a baby otter- who had been in dire straits, presumably from a tanker accident? that"s a positive brand of ecology .

What are good Barbie themes?

A popular Barbie themed party idea is to put together or hire a dress-up station at which the attendees can get dolled up like their favourite Barbie, including getting their makeup done. A Barbie cake is also an extremely popular and versatile party idea while being easy to make. Combined this with Barbie decorations such as paper plates, cups and sweet bags. Of course, no Barbie party would be complete without Barbie dolls so make sure to have a few on-hand for decorations and to play with!

Why have Barbie Dolls been so popular since they were first made?

Before Barbie (Dolls), girls had Baby Dolls that looked (obviously) like babies. Their rubber or plastic arms were molded at the elbows and shoulders, their legs at groin, knee, and ankle. Most dolls in the 1950s did not have moving body parts. Other dolls were fabric or yarn-- like Raggedy Ann.Barbie was the FIRST teen age doll for pre-teens and teens that looked like a teen or adult, just like G.I. Joe for boys! Barbie had breasts, and though her genitals were non-descript, it still looked more teenage like before a girl began growing genital and underarm hair. Before Barbie, the only dolls that came with lots of clothes were Paper Dolls! Barbie had wardrobes of different clothing, and tiny high heel shoes! Of course, that meant her feet were permanently molded with her standing on tip toes. Most women now remember that they were just learning to awkwardly walk in high heel shoes, just like trying to make Barbie stand in her high heels without falling!Barbie also had houses and surroundings. Many girls never got a traditional "Doll House" because they were expensive. But it was easier to plead with your parents to buy you Barbie's house. The biggest problem with Barbie, like the traditional plastic molded baby-baby dolls, was her limited mobility. Having Ken made girls forget that really, Barbie nor Ken "did" much of anything. They couldn't even stand up by themselves (had to brace them against a wall). This immobility made these dolls boring after a while. They became display only toys, a sort of a badge to brag about how many Barbies and how many outfits you had.

How many different Barbie logos have there been?

Barbie is an American Doll by Mattel that first appeared in 1959 from the creator Ruth Handler who was inspired by the Bild Lilli doll. Dolls have come a long way since being made out of paper with cardboard clothes tabs to fold over the doll onto cloth dolls. Barbie has had more than 130 careers. The Logo has remained the same scrolled writing, although it has been in Black ink and pink. Some of the earlier clothes has Barbie label in black block text. Later clothing models just have a B.
