With a high-waisted skirt, you tuck your shirt into your skirt. (Make sre the skirt is above your waist!) With a normal skirt I guess you would just pull it on to your hips?

There is no set standard for the acceptable length of a woman's suit skirt. Basically, if it shows more than a little bit of the thigh while sitting in any position it is probably too short. The more formal the setting and company, the longer and more conservative the skirt should generally be. Also, it should not have a high slit.
i think you should wear a nice dress with some heels. or a skirt (not a mini skirt) and blouse with heels.
