How hot is too hot for coolant temperature on a 1994 Chevy Camaro Z28?
Is it normal for the cooling fan on a 1994 Camaro V6 to turn on when car is nearing red temperature?
I had a similar problem with mine.... temperature gauge would shoot up after 10 minutes of driving and all the coolant would be gone... started watching the tail after replacing the coolant and saw white smoke... found out later it was a crack in the cylinder and it was burning coolant... this may not be your problem, but it mite help...
Radiator, radiator cap, radiator hoses, water pump, coolant reservior and heater core are the more obvious areas. If you notice coolant in your oil it can be caused by a blown head gasket or damaged coolant sleeve in the head of the enging. If you cannot see any coolant leaks outside of the vehicle, check the floor mats on the interior. If you find coolant there, it more than likely is a heater core.
If the cooling fan doesn't work try to power it up with a couple of jumper wires to a battery to see if the motor is the problem. If the fan works then start by checking the relay & temperature sending unit that controls it. Possibly also a wiring problem, check the harness and plugs for corrosion as well as for broken ground wires.
This is difficult so pay attention- (1) Remove the radiator cap (2) Start filling the radiator with a proper mixture of water and coolant(Most climates us a 50/50 mixture) (3) Once the coolant reaches the radiator neck stop filling and let the coolant go down, you can speed this up by starting the engine and letting the coolant start to circulate. (4) keep doing this until the coolant level remains at or near the top…
