Describe how the Middle Colonies were different from the New England Colonies?

Middle Colonies v. New England ColoniesThe biggest difference between the two regions is the soil composure. In New England you had a much rockier soil composure while in the Middle Colonies you had a much softer, fertile soil composure. Because of this farming in the New England colonies was very hard. Also becasue of the difference in soil composure there are different kinds of forests. In New England you have many more coniferous forests, because of the colder weather patterns and harder soil composition, in the Middle states forest are dominated by deciduos trees, or trees that loose their leaves in autumn. The climate in the New England colonies is much harsher also leading to short planting seasons for the Pilgrims. It was not an ideal location for a settlement -- the Pilgrims were actually shooting for Virginia, but a storm threw them off path and they ended up in what is today Provincetown, Cape Cod, MA

What are the chemical and physical changes in baking muffins?

One example of a chemical reaction that occurs when baking muffins is the raising agent: the baking soda (whether that in the baking powder or added separately) reacts with any acid in the ingredients (milk, cream of tartar etc) to form a gas and a salt, and the gas bubbles formed result in the rising of the muffins.

Is blending food a physical or chemical change?

For the purposes of a basic chemistry course, blending food is a physical change since it typically involves only a change in particle size to create a mixture. There are cases where blending food causes chemical changes, for instance when mixing the ingredients to make muffins. In this case, the baking soda and acid combine to produce carbon dioxide (among other things), and certain protein substances in the flour combine chemically to form gluten. In the simplest case, however, the blending of food is a physical change.
