The short answer is..."YES". A slightly longer (but not very detailed) answer is; Leonard Cheshire served his time in the armed forces and retired back at home. Shortly after his retirement; an old friend of Leonard's contacted him to say that someone he knew had been injured during the war and was now permanently disabled. Leonard offered to help and over several years built up a home for soldiers who had been injured and were now disabled. Several years on; the Leonard Cheshire Foundation was developed and formed. The charity continued to grow, and was re branded several years ago as Leonard Cheshire Disability. Leonard Cheshire died in one of his own services several years ago.
