Even though it is odd for Artemis to be the goddess of childbirth since she is a virgin, Artemis is the goddess of childbirth. It goes back to the time she was born. She gave her mother Leto no pain at all and became her mother's midwife during the birth of her twin brother Apollo. Artemis is supposed to help women during childbirth if they call on her name.
