The Tardis (Time and Relitive Dimension in Space) bigger on the inside than the outside becaus the timelords made it that way. It is timelord science. This is the only logical explaination that David Tennant, (10th Doctor) give to rose tyler.

What are the dimensions of the TARDIS?

The TARDIS is infinitely big on the inside, but if you mean the outside it is about 5 foot wode and 10 foot tall

What would going into the TARDIS for the first time feel like?

While no one real knows what it would feel like, we are able to "experience" the feeling multiple times throughout the entire show when the Doctor's companions step inside the TARDIS for their first times. Some common feelings are:-Awe-Thinking and exclaiming, "It's bigger on the inside!"-Walking around the outside feeling the sides of the Police Box in disbelief-AmusementWhile your chances of finding or being found by the Doctor are about as slim as Lady Cassandra, the "last" human, no one will stop you from fantasizing about the day when you get to experience that wonder of stepping into the TARDIS for your first time. Just remember, if you are somehow lucky enough to be able to travel with the Doctor, if you happen upon a weeping angel, DON'T BLINK. DON'T EVEN BLINK. BLINK, AND YOU'RE DEAD.

What is a TARDIS?

A time travelling machine. TARDIS stands for Time And Relative Dimensions In Space. The Tardis is bigger on the inside using transcendental dimensions, meaning when you step inside you step into a different plane. Think a Star-gate. The Tardis has a chameleon circuit which will allow it to "blend in" with the environment but currently it is broken. It also has a translation module which allows people who used the Tardis to hear all alien languages as their mother language.

Are there any differences between the TARDIS and a normal police box?

Yes. A normal police box doesn't have a time-travel machine inside. The TARDIS, of course, is a fictitious device. With respect to the outside look, according to the story it is designed to look like a police box, that were common at the time the series started; this was apparently done so as a disguise.

What is the TARDIS's phone number from the british tv show Dr. Who?

Origingally, the TARDIS, while being a police box, didn't actually have a phone that works. The phone in the little box at the front, behind the sign that says Police Telephone For Free Use of Public Advice and Intelligence Obtainable Immediately Officers and Cars Respond to Urgent Calls Pull to Open doesn't actually work. It isn't connected to anything. We do see it ring in the episode the Empty Child, and the Doctor (Nine, at this point) is entirely shocked, because it isn't a phone. However in the redesigned TARDIS in Series 5, it now has a working phone on the inside. The Doctor receives a phone call on it from Winston Churchill. However the number itself is not known. It rings again in Series 7, 'The Bells of St John' - the phone is in fact the titular bell, close to the TARDIS' St Johns Ambulance logo.

How is the TARDIS bigger on the inside?

The TARDIS is bigger o the inside because it is a completely different dimension, almost as if when you step throw the TARDIS door you are stepping from one place to another. I think its called trans-indental dimensions, but don't trust my spelling on that (I got it off SJA).

Did the doctor die on the wedding of river song?

What is the tardis really?

The T.A.R.D.I.S. is an acronym for Time and relative dimensions in space and is a fiction vehicle for the Doctor in the BBC science fiction TV show called "Dr Who". The Doctors TARDIS allows the Doctor to travel to anywhere in the galaxy and at any time in history and in the most recent episodes it can on rare occasions, allow him travel to different dimensions. There are two things which make this time machine special, firstly it has the shape of a nineteen fifties emergency Police box. The doctor explains that this unusual exterior of his time machine is caused by a malfunctioning "Chameleon circuit". this circuit is responsible for allowing the TARDIS to take any external shape. However the circuit was damaged and became fixed as a Police box. In later episodes such as the most recent Doctor he simply dismisses the question as to why the TARDIS is that shape simply by saying "I like it that way". The other feature that sets the TARDIS apart from other transport is that its bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. This is explained that the doorway of the TARDIS is a portal to another location in space. The explanation is given that if you hold up a finger at arms length and one near your eye, which is bigger? The one near your eye appears bigger but you know both fingers are roughly the same size. The room of the TARDIS is in a fixed location in space and the doorway is the part that moves. The doorway of the TARDIS transports you to the room, hence it can be bigger on the inside, than the outside.

Hows the Tardis bigger on the inside?

The BBC explained this as the TARDIS is "dimensionally transcendental", which means that its exterior and interior exist in separate dimensions at the same time.

What is big inside but small inside?

maby. Tardis from doctor who, though it doesnt actually exist. ahaha

Can the exterior TARDIS materialise in the interior of the TARDIS?

No, as the TARDIS is the TARDIS. The inside it the Outside. It's like saying the house inside the house's kitchen. Confusing but true:) Edit 19/03/2011 On the 18th was comic relief and the Tardis did land inside it self But we don't know if this is cannon or not yet I believe that steven moffat did steal my idea yes but only in desperate measures like when rory (big nose) dropped the thirmo couplings
