It is the duty of every Muslim to emulate the traditions of the prophet Mohammed (s.a.w.) this is called following sunnah, personality is the wrong term as Mohammed (s.a.w.) was commanded by Allah (s.w.t.) all the time so he did not do a single thing from himself as mentioned in the Quran.
