How is Sea of Monsters different from The Lightning Thief?

The sea of monsters is about percy and annabeth's quest to find the golden fleece. In the book they have to sail through many different and troubling situations and kill a cyclops for the fleece that will protect camp half-blood from invading monsters.

Where as the Lightning thief is the fist book where percy has to find zues' master bolt before the solstice other wise there will be world war three, between the gods.

Percy is discovered by the monsters and is taken to camp half-blood. His father Poseidon claims him and he becomes part of the camp. In the camp luke gives percy a shield, but hidden in the shield is the lightning bolt, percy goes on the quest to find the bolt before the solstice, (not knowing that its in his shield) he almost dies numerous times along with his friends annabeth, and grover the satyr. finally percy finds the bolt in the shield and he realizes that luke was on the bad side a.k.a. working for Ares (the war god) and luke was trying to start world war three. Percy returns the bolt to zues just in time, in return zues offers percy immortality and pery declines, because of his love for annebeth, daughter of Athena (goddess of strategy and architecture).
