Tallahassee is Florida's state capital because 2 explorers set out in the early 1800's to find a place for Florida's legislature to meet. One of the explorers was on horseback, and the other one was on boat. They met at a beautiful spot that the Creek and another Indian tribe called "Tallahassee"__ coming from the Indian words "talwa" meaning town, and "ahasee" meaning old. Tallahassee means "old town."
I hope that helps!
