Because it helps him/her get away if he/she is grabbed by the tail by a predator.
no, not like someother species of lizards the nile monitor lizards tail doesn't grow back.
Let it grow back!!
Lizards can lose their tail and regrow it if captured by a predator.
When pulled by predators, lizards shed their tails in response. This self-amputation is called autotomy. ... Lizards aid the process by contracting muscles around the fracture planes. The pulling apart of the muscles causes the tail to fall off along the line of weakness
Some lizards will shed their tails when attacked.
it will soon grow back happened a few times to my lizards
If you're talking about a lizards tail... The tail itself simply shrivels and dies - snicn it's no longer supplied with blood form the animal. The wound left where the tail was attachedm usually heals fairly quickly. Most lizards re-grow their tails after some tiime.
I am not sure why the tails of chipmunks, squirrels, lizards and the ... pointy things of starfish can drop off, but I DO KNOW that if you try and catch a lizard, and you grab on the tail, it will drop off. Lizards use that as self-defense, but for a starfish, it is part of their life. Hope this helped! ~Daydream617
The tail. Not all lizards can do it - but certain species are able to shed their tail if caught - enabling them to escape. The tail grows back over time.
Yep, if their tail gets cut off it can grow back pretty much right away
Lizards tail fall off as a defense mechanism to trick their prey
