How is a raccoon an omnivore?

They eat plants and animals- that is an omnivore. And I wish they would stay out of my grape vines!

Ahh, but it was very nice of you to provide such a wonderful spot to find dinner and not have to spend all that time and energy foraging around for it. I am sure they are grateful.

Technically a raccoon is classified as a carnivore but, in reality, they are omnivores and eat a variety of plant and animal matter. Their diet is similar to that of a black bear. Most any animal, including a raccoon, will scavenge when th situation presents itself. There is nothing like a free meal that requires little effort.
