Then one spreads mortar over the entire surface, press the tiles into the mortar, spacing them 1/4 inch apart. Place spacers between each tile and allow to dry for 12-18 hours. After it's dry, remove the spacers and spread grout over the top, wiping off any excess, and then allowing to dry for another 12-18 hours.
