A wire feeder is cooled by water, and air it depends on what type of wire your using. A wire feeder in the field is often not cooled by anything, but has accessories to keep the the neck and handle cool and from burning your hand.

welding i want to weld steel bars to my trailer should i use a arch welder or a wire feed welder?

arch welding is a more stable form of welding. it get hotter and creates a stronger bond

How is the amperage adjusted on a GMA welder?

On most machines the wire feed control also adjusts the amperage. Faster = hotter. Slower = cooler. Some machines have range settings. LOW MED HIGH you still have to adjust the wire feed in each range for your needs.

How do you size a phase converter to run a 3 phase welder?

From the nameplate on the welder you find the amperage that the welder draws at the three phase voltage that you are going to use. This amperage is used to size the phase converter. This amperage is also used to size the breaker that will feed the phase converter and wire size for the installation.

Can you weld a go kart together with a stick welder?

sure but it will probably take longer than if you use a wire feed. you might have to cut the rod in half to get to tight places. and a stick welder might be to hot and burn through the pipe you use for roll bar

What size wire do you need for 440 three phase welder on an eight foot run?

The wire size depends on the amperage, not the voltage. The fact that the welder runs on 440 volts does not affect the wire size! You need to ask this question instead: What size wire do you need for a three phase welder on an eight foot run if the nameplate amps are 45A?

How do wire feed welders work?

Wire feed welders operate by continuously feeding a spool of welding wire through a gun to create an electric arc between the wire and the workpiece. This arc generates intense heat, melting both the wire and the base material, allowing them to fuse together. The welder typically uses a shielding gas to protect the molten weld pool from contamination. This process allows for efficient, consistent, and automated welding, making it popular in various applications.

What is the best welder to use for a go kart?

Depends on a lot of things. Slickest work, but most expensive - TIG. Cheapest - arc (stick) welder. Reasonably user friendly and inexpensive - wire-feed arc/ MIG welder.) Most versatile - Oxyacetylene. Oxy will give have the biggest heat affected zone and is the hardest to use (IMO). If your kart is really thin wall tubing you can forget about the stick welder and even the MIG will be quite tricky.
