Think of AC as a wave that undulates between a peak positive and negative value. Now if you flip the negative half of the wave above zero line you have all the peaks positive. This is done with what is called a full wave rectifier. Now you need to smooth out the humps into a steady single voltage which is DC. This is done by a circuit with a capacitor as a key component. The capacitor and some other components smooth out the "ripples" to produce the desired DC voltage.

A bridge rectifier is usually used in this application. Most portable electronic devices utilize d.c. power. Yet, in order to recharge depleted batteries, they are plugged into an a.c. outlet. In many cases, the cord connector housing that plugs into the outlet has a bridge rectifier built into it that converts a.c. to d.c. voltage.
A resistor, by itself, can not convert DC into AC.
by the use of inverter we can convert ac to dc.
A transformer cannot convert AC into DC.
we can convert a dc supply to an ac supply using inverters. Its a common operation which we observe in our daily lives dc can be converted to Ac using an undulator.
How do you convert 23 voltage DC to 230 Voltage AC?
You rectify AC voltage through a diode bridge to convert it to DC.
A "Rectifier" converts AC current to pulsating DC current.
A transformer is a device to convert high voltage AC to low voltage AC & vice-versa. It works on the principle of induction. Since induction occurs only in an AC supply, a transformer cannot work on DC.. So, it is not possible to convert DC supply to AC using transformer. You would need an inverter to convert DC to AC.
No. A bulb can run a AC just a easily as DC.
A DC to DC converter is basically a type of switching power supply. The switcher converts the input DC to AC. A transformer is used to convert the AC to the desired voltage. A rectifier, filter, and optional regulator is used to convert the AC back to DC.
The easiest way would be to convert the AC power to DC by using a rectifier diode and a filter capacitor. In that way you can now run your DC motor on DC.
trains can run on both ac and dc. In India trains run with dc and there is a plan to convert them to move on ac by 2010
