Global warming is greatly affecting coral reefs. Global warming can elevate seawater temperatures and sea levels also. The temperature change is not good for the creatures in these coral reefs, since they are used to usual warm climates. Coral reefs in more shallow waters also might have to face tidal emersions, another risk for them.

What is the effect humans have had on coral reefs?

Humans have significantly harmed coral reefs through pollution, overfishing, and climate change. Runoff from agriculture and urban areas introduces harmful chemicals and sediments, while overfishing disrupts the delicate balance of reef ecosystems. Additionally, rising sea temperatures and ocean acidification due to climate change lead to coral bleaching and weakened coral structures. These impacts threaten biodiversity and the livelihoods of communities dependent on healthy reef systems.

What are the main threats to coral reefs posed by coral-eating fish, and how can their impact be mitigated?

Coral-eating fish can threaten coral reefs by overgrazing on the coral, which can lead to coral death and reduced reef health. Their impact can be mitigated by managing fishing practices, protecting key herbivorous fish species, and promoting coral reef conservation efforts.
