Volume is how much room something takes up. Density is the mass per volume. In everyday terms, how fluffy is a substance. Feathers are rather fluffy, and have a low density. A steel bar is not very fluffy, and has a high density.
Mass = Density x Volume Density = Mass/Volume Volume = Mass/Density
Volume = mass / Density Mass = Volume * Density Density = Mass / Volume

volume = mass/density and density = mass/volume

Because density equals volume divided by mass, therefore as the volume changes so does the density. They are inversely correlated. As volume rises, density decreases. As volume decreases, density increases.
