Both move down concentration gradient through a partially permeable membrane, and both do not require energy. Diffusion involves the movement of particles or solute from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration. Osmosis is the movement of water from where it is in high concentration to where it is in low concentration.

Diffusion and filtration are alike because both processes try to accomplish the same goal, separate particles. Diffusion works at a much smaller level and filtration is used to get larger particles out of an item.

Why is simple squamous epithelium often found in areas where filtration or diffusion is important?

Because squamous cells are thin and flat which is helpful for diffusion .

Compare osmosis diffusion and filtration?

Diffusion is movement of molecules, from region of higher concentration, to the region of lower concentration, along concentration gradient.
