Dynasty Warriors 5 previously had the most characters and then 6 just blew up the series.. then Dynasty Warriors 7 came out and now it has the most characters in the series to date.
Dynasty Warriors 5 provides Musou (story) modes for all characters while 7 is similar to Dynasty Warriors 4 where each Kingdom has their own Story mode and you use a variety of characters.
