Earth's internal heat is the result of the radioactive decay of isotopes that have been present since the Earth was formed. This source of heat, of course, will be exhausted eventually. Note that this energy source is one of two main exceptions to the general rule that all the energy we get is from the Sun. The other exception is tidal energy, which is the result of Earth's rotation.

Originally it was heated by impacts. But all this heat was rapidly lost billions of years ago shortly after the period of high impact rates ceased.

Currently it is heated by radioactive decay of uranium and its radioactive daughter isotopes in the metallic core and lower mantle.

Obviously, the sun heats an lights the earth. Without the sun. we could not see anything and we would be FREEZING. Unless of course we had electric heaters.
