it is better because if you flat pack it then it will be smaller and lorries and trucks will be able to carry more in less rounds so it is good for the environment because less petrol is being used
IKEA has a good range of cheap office furniture. The names are a bit strange and you have to assemble it yourself as it comes flat packed, but it is quite hard wearing and looks good.
Freight class for furniture depends upon the size of the furniture and the weight. If your furniture is packed flat in the boxes it would be class 70 or 85. For example at mcgillteak outdoor furniture, we ship most of our furniture in class 85. But if furniture has lot of pillows and cushions than most likely the class would be anywhere from 175 to 200. I hope that helps.
The whole purpose of flat pack furniture is to be reasonably priced and easy to assemble. However, there can be a couple of issues with bigger and more complicated pieces or people who are a bit clumsy. Luckily for some people, these exact problems have sparked a wave of furniture assembly companies that can do all that hard work in no time in exchange for a small charge.
It really depends on what you are looking for. Custom made furniture will always be consider as "superior" to flat pack furniture or any other type of ready-to-assemble furniture. To start with, having a piece of furniture that is made specifically for you is much like having a custom made car...it just seems like it has more quality and it's better overall. However, the quality of custom made furniture is not always better, and at times, actually worse. Have in mind that furniture, like IKEA for example, is developed by experts to last long. The designs are usually great as well, since they can spend a lot of money on designers because it's is mass produced and easy to earn those money back. Lastly, at least when it comes to me, the assembly of the flat pack furniture is a big bummer, although the instructions are supposed to be perfect, sometimes people are forced to pay additional charges for furniture assembly services, which makes the price gap between custom made furniture and flat packs almost disappear.
An allen key is a square key normally used for a square headed bolt or screw used in mainly self build furniture (flat packed).
no because it is to expensive
Ebay or Overstock carry this type of furniture on their websites. Presumably, you may also be able to find flat pack furniture at Ikea in Canada and the US.
Ikea is a company based in Sweden that makes affordable furniture and home decor items. They are mostly known for their modern and contemporary designs, but they sell traditional styles of furniture as well. Ikea aims to cut back on costs through innovation rather than by cutting quality. For example most of their furniture comes "flat-packed," meaning it comes in pieces in flat boxes and is assembled by the buyer, which cuts back on shipping costs and assembly costs.
Ordinary, a table. But chairs, dressers and other furniture pieces also have flat tops and can have legs.
