they are both a type of physical weathering and both may break rock through a crack or a crevice. Frost wedging is when water enters a crack and may freeze causing the crack to expand because when water freezes it contrasts and expands. Root wedging is when a plant grows through a crack causing the roots to expand and break through the rock.
