Actually, they are half brothers. Amir had found out that when Rahim Khan had hinted that Ali was not Hassan's father but Baba was (which explains why Baba had a closer relationship to Hassan and Amir).

∙ 11y agoAmir and Hassan at first were childhood friends, but because of their ethnic backgrounds (Amir being a Pashtun and Hassan being a Hazara), this eventually separated them from eachother and made a big impact on Amir when he found out that Hassan was his half brother. He had realized that he truly was related to Hassan.
