The Presbyterian Church holds similar beliefs and tenets as other Protestant churches. The only specific teaching that isn't routinely taught in the others is a belief called "predestination." This means that God knows who will accept and believe in Him and who will not. However, since we are given free will by God, we have the liberty to choose as we please, but He knows HOW we will choose.

Why do different Christian church groups differ in growth rate?

Well, a good example of this is the Latter Day Saint, or "Mormon," church. Their growth is exponential because they harbor different teachings from other religions and many people find this appealing. I guess what I'm trying to say is, different Christian churches have very different doctrine.

What are Differences and similarities of Disciples of Christ and Presbyterian Churches?

Presbyterians are Christian. The Presbyterian Church is one of many different varieties of Protestant Christian churches that differ from the Roman Catholic Church and Orthodox Catholic Churches in specific areas of theology and church government. But all of these are part of the Christian religion in that they all recognize Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. All Christian churches also embrace the teachings of the Bible, in both the Hebrew and Christian texts (Old and New Testaments.) The Christian religion shares faith in One Creator God with two other major religions: Judaism and Islam. All three of these religions acknowledge Abraham, Moses and the other prophets and teachings of the Hebrew Scriptures. Islam also honors Jesus of Nazareth as an important prophet, and differs in recognition of Muhammad and obedience to the Quran. Hinduism has a much older and very different history, being rooted in and in some ways identified with India. There are many Gods and Goddesses in Hinduism; one of several sacred texts is the Bhagavad Gita. Buddhism branches off from Hinduism in somewhat the same way that Christianity and Islam branch from Judaism, recognizing the ancient Prince Siddhartha as the Buddha or Enlightened One. There are many other significant religious traditions. See the Wikipedia article on Major Religious Groups for further information and links to more resources.

What are the protestant beliefs?

Protestants have many different beliefs. When Martin Luther broke with the Roman Catholic Church he summarized his differences as only Grace, only Faith, and only Scripture. He continued to accept the Apostles Creed, the Nicene Creed, and many other Christian teachings used by the Roman Catholics. Different protestant groups have different beliefs. The differences in procedures are usually much greater than the differences in doctrine.
