Heavy water is heavier than light water because instead of both hydrogen atoms in the molecule being ordinary light hydrogen (H - one proton) one or both hydrogen atoms are heavy hydrogen (D - one proton, one neutron).
Heavy water is about 11% denser than ordinary water, due to enriching of its deuterium isotopes.
Because water is heavy, Air is light.
No. It means its less dense than water.
About 10% more for the same volume.
Heavy stones produce more waves than light stones when thrown into water because they displace more water due to their weight. The displacement creates more ripples and waves on the surface of the water.
because oil have light wieght than water have heavy wieght
Mainly I believe because the light water PWR was developed for submarines and as compact a reactor as possible was required. Since then of course it (and BWR's) have been up-sized very successfully. Enriched fuel can now be made much more easily and cheaply by centrifuges than by the diffusion method, so to obtain low enriched fuel is more economical. There is also MOX available, though I don't think the US uses this. See the discussion page as well
Sodium is considered a light metal in terms of its atomic weight compared to other elements. Its density is less than that of water, so it is not considered heavy in the context of everyday objects or materials.
Well it can be either light of heavy depending on the amount of liquid and the density of liquid. 1 Litre of water - 1 Kilogram Oil is heavier than water; it sinks to the bottom For more information on liquid density and liquid weight search Google
Water refracts light because it has a different density than air. When light passes from air into water, it changes speed and direction, causing it to bend. This bending of light is known as refraction.
Light travels faster in air than in water because the density of air is lower than that of water. Light changes speed and direction when it enters a different medium due to the change in density, causing it to move slower in water.
Specific gravity of crude oil is how light or heavy it is compared to water. If the API gravity is less than 10 it will float in water.
