Water in the subducted rock is released into the asthenosphere. The water lowers the melting temperatures of materials in the asthenosphere, leading to the formation of magma. i dot think this is right so who ever did this take it back

∙ 12y agoIn a concurrent area with eroding sea floor, the removed rock will contain great amount of sea water.This water will act on the rock and cause erosion, making it less dense and also lower its melting point.This weak rock melts as it gets closer to the mantle and magma is formd.
