Best Answer

Matter is anything that occupies space, evolves in time, persists in its state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line unless acted upon by an external force, and is convertible to energy. Matter is composed of atoms which in turn are composed of particles which in theory might be composed of tiny threads called strings. Matter can also take four basic forms as a solid, liquid, gas, or plasma and is detectable to our senses.
