How is migraine tested?

Migraines are caused by constriction of blood vessels in the brain. There are medical tests like MRI or dye specfic cat scans that look for this.

However most migraine sufferers are diagnosed by symptoms, ie pain on one side of head, visual sensitivity(esp to light), nausea. A severe headache may not be a migraine, but is certainly painful, and many of the same treatments apply.
