The President of the Fiji Islands is chosen through a system called "Na Bose Levu Vaka-turaga" or the high chiefs of Fiji. They are responsible in electing a President and also they are the ones who still declare the monarch of England to be Fiji's Head of State. The Prime Minister is however elected by the general public. He serves a term of 5yrs unless otherwise stated. From there, the Prime Minister then elects his cabinets or member of parliament. In any case of the President of Fiji is out of the country, or sick, the Supreme Court of Fiji's Chief Justice automatically becomes an acting President.
General elections are held once every three years, but as New Zealand uses the Westminster system, an election can be held any time at the request of the Prime Minister to the Governor General. The last election was held on 8 November 2008, while the next election must be held on or before 14 January 2012.
The New Zealand Parliament consists of 120 seats, elected using the mixed-member proportional (MMP) system. Voters get two votes, a party vote and an electorate vote.
The party vote decides how many seats of the 120 each party gets, so if a party gets 25% of the party vote, they get roughly 30 seats. To get seats in parliament, a party needs 5% of the party vote or needs to win an electorate.
The electorate vote decides who will be an electorate's MP. A voter is enrolled in one of 70 electorates, and votes for who they want to represent them. It's simply a first-past-the-post election for each electorate.
A party's seats in parliament is first filled by electorate MPs that won their electorate - if they have any seats left over they fill them with MPs from a predetermined party list. If the case is that a party wins more electorates than seats that they are entitled to, a "overhang" results and parliament gets more than 120 seats (in 2008, the Maori Party won 5 electorate seats when only entitled to three, pushing Parliament up to 122).

John Key
New Zealand, whilst it has an elected Parliamentary democracy, has only the one level of government legislature. We have a Prime Minister - appointed by popular vote of the Political Party who won the election. We do not have an elected president. The current Prime Minister is John Key.
